Space Aliens

Hi everyone - this newsletter reaches you a little late - many apologies. My latest track "Space Aliens" came out yesterday unfortunately "life things" stopped me sending this out until today.

I love the music from 1950s science fiction movies and I used to spend many hours watching them as a kid. They, along with childhood programs like Fireball XL5 (if you don't know what this is then look it up on you tube), started my lifelong passion with Space.

So I have always wanted to make a track in the genre, however, it's not much of a track without a film so I took a creative commons film and made a 5-minute 1950s movie from it - eliminating the talking and replacing with captions.

The music was of course recorded live in one go with no overdubbing or use of a DAW. The majority of the track is produced on my modular system with the Qu-bit Aurora module (a spectral reverb) doing a lot of the effects. Polyrhythms were used to drive many of the sounds so as to avoid too much "rhythm" and some pseudo-randomness.

A lot of the more esoteric sounds, especially in the first half of the track come from the Soma Enner - which is just perfect for out of this world sounds.

So enjoy! It was a lot of fun to make the track and video and that is surely what making music is about.
